Fully resolved currents from quantum transport calculations

چکیده

Here, the authors use first-principles quantum mechanical scattering calculations to determine current distributions in thin metallic films and multilayers at finite temperatures, where effect of electron-phonon is included adiabatic approximation. The fully relativistic describe transient shunting size effects for layers more than 100 atoms thick. This makes it possible search improved interconnect materials or study influence layer thicknesses on various spintronics, such as spin Hall effect.

The Transport Problem: Currents from Quantum Mechanics

In semiconductor devices, we are often concerned with currents. A current is a measure of the flow of objects from one point in space to another. The flow of electric charges constitutes an electric current, leading to the notion of electrical conductivity. In this chapter we develop the recipe to understand current flow from a quantum-mechanical viewpoint. Since the physical state of particles...

A fully resolved active musculo-mechanical model for esophageal transport

Esophageal transport is a physiological process that mechanically transports an ingested food bolus from the pharynx to the stomach via the esophagus, a multilayered muscular tube. This process involves interactions between the bolus, the esophagus, and the neurally coordinated activation of the esophageal muscles. In this work, we use an immersed boundary (IB) approach to simulate peristaltic ...

Quantum transport calculations for quantum cascade laser structures

We apply a quantum transport theory based on nonequilibrium Green’s functions to quantum cascade laser (QCL) structures, treating simultaneously the transmission through the injector regions and the relaxation due to scattering in the active region. The quantum kinetic equations are solved self-consistently using self-energies for interface roughness and phonon scattering processes within the s...
